The liaison officers of British Consulate-General in Hong Kong, Mr Daniel James and Mr Andrew Dean, presented a shield to officers of Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) on November 22 in appreciation of their efforts in detecting a complex cross-boundary conspiracy to defraud. Receiving the shield were Chief Superintendent of OCTB Man Tat-shing, Superintendent Kwan King-pan, Chief Inspector Tang Yick-kay and Senior Inspector Hung Fan-hong.

In collaboration with the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Frontier Corp, the OCTB neutralised a cross-boundary human smuggling syndicate in March this year. The syndicate forged financial proof documents for a large number of Mainlanders in applying for tourist visa to the United Kingdom via the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong. Eleven core syndicate members were arrested in both territories.
