The Hong Kong Police Inspectors' Association (HKPIA) appointed Assistant Professor from the Social Sciences Department of The Education University of Hong Kong Dr Ho Ka-ki as its Academic Advisor in a bid to trace the HKPIA's history and study its role in the Force's consultative mechanism over the years.

The year of 2017 marked the 60th anniversary of the HKPIA. As the HKPIA had lost some important documents after relocation, the earliest records of the HKPIA could only date back to 1970's. Dr Ho was invited to meet executive committee members of the HKPIA at the Police Headquarters on November 30 to talk about conducting studies in this field. The proposed research projects covered the Inspectorates' Accommodation Needs and the Development of the Police's Consultation Mechanism. HKPIA Chairman Lee Jim-on presented a certificate to Dr Ho to thank his consent to assist in the research work.

With Dr Ho's insightfulness and analysis, it is expected that the HKPIA and the Force could better understand the development of the Force and police inspectors after the research studies.
