The Operations Wing (OPS Wing) organised the first "Introduction to Exercise Management Workshop" on January 24 to enhance the capability of officers in planning, conducting and evaluating an exercise about handling major incidents. Twenty one officers from six regions, together with two trainees from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute, attended the workshop.

Senior Superintendent of the Major Incidents Bureau Peter Whitton highlighted the need for the Force to establish a high standard of exercising to strengthen the Force's capabilities and professionalism. He said the workshop would help ensure consistency in the way Formations plan and conduct their own exercises.

Afterwards, Chief Inspector (Exercise and Support) of the Counter Terrorism and Internal Security Division Jonathan Close gave a presentation on the objectives, planning, running and documentation of an exercise. He also introduced the new "Post-Exercise Report" proforma for making a systematic evaluation of an exercise.
