The Police Tactical Unit's Zulu Company (PTU Z Coy) held its first-ever Family Open Day at Fanling Base on June 2. Over 200 relatives and friends of trainees attended the event to learn about the tough and challenging training of PTU.

After Company Commander Chan Hin-kwan introduced the history and objectives of PTU, the visitors were given a guided tour to the barracks to get a glimpse of the trainees' daily life. Then the trainees outlined their physical fitness assessment standards and gave a demonstration of barehanded self-defense techniques and suspect control skills in a gymnasium, and another demonstration of overcoming obstacles and climbing high walls at an outdoor range. The visitors also observed firearms training and watched a display of anti-riot weapons at the range. The highlight of the event was an inter-platoon "Unimog-Tug-Of-War" - an act that displayed the competitive, yet high spirit of the Company officers.

The event not only enhanced the visitors' understanding of the Force, but also boosted the trainees' sense of pride and belonging to the PTU. Thus, the Family Open Day would be held for every passing out PTU Company in future.
