A kick-off ceremony of the Noble Bar Scheme 2018 of Wanchai District (WCHDIST) was held at Kwong Ming Street Children's Playground on June 27, with WCHDIST Commander Tse Kwok-wai and Wanchai Divisional Commander Chow Hung leading some local officers to attend the event.

Mr Tse introduced the scheme to District Councillor Ms Lee Kwun-yee and representatives from local bars and restaurants at the ceremony, and appealed for the support of local stakeholders to maintain a safe and nuisance-free bar area. The scheme was initiated in 2015 with the aim of neutralising nuisances relating to bars in the low-rise residential area south of Queen's Road East, as well as promoting responsible drinking and responsible liquor selling.

Since the launching of the scheme, the number of noise complaints in the bar area dropped significantly by about 24 per cent. This showed that the scheme has been effective in promoting a nuisance-free environment for residents and bar operators.
