New Territories North (NTN) Region hosted a briefing for its community partners on July 31 about the Police's efforts to fight crime in the first half of 2018. More than 170 representatives of district groups, public organisations and other government departments attended the briefing.

The briefing was one of the activities to increase the community partners' understanding of police work and to secure their support for the Force. Various units of NTN gave an update on "Project LinkGuard", the modus operandi of online romance scammers, tips for preventing romance scams, and the effectiveness of traffic enforcement.

Furthermore, two officers from Tuen Mun District and Yuen Long District (YLDIST) shared their experience in investigating Indecent Assault cases. Their professionalism in handling these cases, in particular the empathy displayed and swift apprehension and conviction of the suspect, earned compliments from the victims and their families. Another officer from YLDIST outlined the Animal Watch Scheme and shared his experience and challenges in investigating a case about Cruelty to Animal.

The guests were delighted to see a continued drop in the crime rate and highly appreciated the effectiveness of the Force in maintaining law and order in Hong Kong.
