Director of Hong Kong Police College (D HKPC) Lau Chi-wai was invited as one of the guest speakers in a plenary session of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) International Conference 2018 on September 17 and 18.

The conference was organised by the Education Bureau and co-organised by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the HKQF. It attracted the participation of QF experts from the European Commission, Ireland and New Zealand, as well as representatives from industrial, commercial and financial sectors, professional associations, government departments and tertiary institutions.

Ms Lau shared the Force's strategies and experience in talent development at the conference. The Force is the first government department being accredited to operate training programmes recognised under the HKQF. Currently, the Force runs a total of 11 programmes being accredited with the highest level up to QF Level 6, equivalent to Master's Degree level. The Force is also committed to promoting lifelong learning among officers through articulation arrangements with local and overseas reputable universities.

In her closing remarks, Ms Lau said, "Human capital is our greatest asset. We will continue to explore new alternative pathways through accreditation and articulation to enhance the personal and professional qualifications of every Force member."
