The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (KE) held the KE Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony 2017-2018 on October 25. The Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were presented at the event. Thirty-five security personnel received the Best Security Guard Awards while 209 security personnel obtained the Outstanding Security Guard Awards. Their corresponding property management companies and security service companies were presented with the Best Partner and Outstanding Partner Awards.

Officiating at the ceremony was Acting Regional Commander of KE James Betts. Presenting the awards were Vice-chairman of Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority Mr Yip Chun-nam, President of The Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies Mr Chan Chi-kau, Chairmen of Kwun Tong, Sai Kung and Wong Tai Sin District Fight Crime Committees, as well as District Commanders of Kwun Tong, Sau Mau Ping, Wong Tai Sin, Tseung Kwan O and Railway Districts and a Chief Inspector of Crime Prevention Bureau.

The award presentation was held for the 13th year running. The Gold Award went to Mr So Yuk-yam. Whilst on patrol in a commercial complex in Kwun Tong, Mr So spotted an assailant attacking a man with a knife from behind. Mr So stepped forward immediately to stop the assailant and his right arm was slashed. The assailant was arrested subsequently. Mr So's dedication and bravery deserved to be commended.
