The Junior Police Officers Division (JPO Division) of Personnel Wing hosted the first thematic seminar, titled "What do you need to know about 2018 Policy Address", on November 19 for mentees of the Development Programme for Junior Officers with Potential. The seminar aimed at broadening the participants' horizons, strengthening their analytical capabilities and facilitating their career development.

The seminar attracted the participation of over 80 mentees and mentors of the Development Programme as well as mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP). Chief Inspector (JPO Division) Lee Wai-see gave an overview of key issues in the Policy Address while Chief Inspector (Efficiency Studies) of the Service Quality Wing Wong Wai-chi highlighted the policing challenges arising from the Policy Address. They inspired the participants to think about the policy initiatives from a wider perspective. The seminar received overwhelming response. Apart from enriching the knowledge of the participants, the seminar enhanced communication between officers and PMP mentees.

In 2019, the Personnel Wing will continue to work with Major Formations to conduct seminars on different policing issues to provide more learning opportunities for mentees of the Development Programme and to better equip them for career advancement.

The Personnel Wing has invited application for the Development Programme for 2019 and the deadline for application is December 30. Successful mentees will benefit from mentorship guidance, thematic seminars, work attachment within the Force and opportunities for secondment to other government departments. For enquiries, please contact Training and Staff Relations Officers or the JPO Division on 2860-2050.
