Nine lawn bowlers of Hong Kong Police Lawn Bowls Club (HKPLBC), led by Vice-chairman Mr Lee Kwok-ming, competed with players from Australia, Mainland China and Singapore in the 17th Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games from October 28 to November 3. A new member of the club, Ms Chan Miu-ting, stayed calm in face of strong contestants and made a glorious debut by clinching a bronze medal in the Novice Singles event.

Meanwhile, the tenth Disciplined Services Lawn Bowls Tournament was hosted by the Correctional Services Department (CSD) on November 16, with lawn bowlers from the Force, the CSD, the Customs and Excise Department and the Fire Services Department competing with each other in round robin rink format. The Force won the second place after three rounds of fun yet fierce competition. The then Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Lam Kwok-leung, presented awards to the winners.

Deputy Director of the Police College Dr Chiu Sau-mee and Chairperson of HKPLBC Ms Lo Fung-yee were on hand to support the Force lawn bowlers. They praised them for their team spirit, adding that the event enhanced communication amongst the disciplined forces.

Apart from competing in local league games organised by the Hong Kong Lawn Bowls Association, HKPLBC bowlers also join competitions in Mainland China and overseas. To learn more about lawn bowling, please call Secretary of the Club, Chan Chak-ming, on 9712-3796.
