As a start to 2019, it is an opportune time to look back at the Force's achievements in Knowledge Management (KM) and look forward to the year ahead.

MAKE Award

The Force has been promoting KM for over 17 years and its endeavours have been well recognised internationally by winning repeatedly the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award.

HK MIKE Award 2018

In early 2018, an International Global Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise (MIKE) Study Group, comprising world experts in KM and innovative practices, was formed as a continuation of the MAKE framework. The Study Group aims to identify the best practices on how enterprises cultivate and convert their knowledge into superior products, services and solutions. The MIKE Award is, therefore, launched as a global benchmark for assessing KM and innovative practices of organisations. The Police College, representing the Force to participate in the first Hong Kong MIKE Award Competition 2018, was awarded the Top Winner in December. This fully recognised the Force's innovative performance in the implementation of KM. The Force leverages the latest technology and five Innovative Service Excellence Drivers, namely people, partnership, leadership, culture and resources, to steer the "Innovation Ship".

KM Champions for 2019 & 2020

To forge ahead for perpetual service enhancement through the implementation of KM, the appointment ceremony of KM Champions for 2019 and 2020 was held on December 12, 2018. With the new KM Champions from diverse backgrounds in information technology and innovation, the Force is sailing through the tides with the "Innovation Ship".

Regional Committee on KM (RCKM)

After the successful pilot of the Formation KM Championship Scheme, the RCKM will be established in each Land Region to further promote KM to support frontline work.

In 2019, the newly appointed KM Champions and the newly established RCKM, in partnership with the Chief Knowledge Champion cum Deputy Director 2 of Police College, Dr Chiu Sau-mee, will continue to assist the Force Knowledge Officer cum Director of Police College, Lau Chi-wai, to write another glorious chapter in the Force's KM journey.
