The Marine Police Mentorship Programme (MPMP) Information Day was held for mentees at the Police College on December 5, 2018 to kick-start a series of activities in 2018-19. The event covered experience sharing about the work of Marine Region as well as team building activities. The Police College sent Community Liaison Co-ordinators to lead the mentees to tour the college while Physical Training Instructors gave a demonstration of physical tests.

Officiating at the event were Deputy Regional Commander of Marine Fok Lok-sang, Head mentor cum Marine West Divisional Commander Yuen Ching-fong and Acting Deputy Commander of Marine Port District Chan Shan-shan. Mr Fok presented souvenirs to the participating organisations. He shared the unprecedented challenges of Marine Region in the passage of Super Typhoon "Mangkhut", and appreciated the professionalism displayed by marine police officers.

Ms Yuen presented certificates of appreciation to the Best Mentors and Best Mentor Assistants for their contribution to the MPMP in 2017-18. A mentee from the Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Miss Leung Wai-ying, was invited to share her unforgettable experience in assisting to organise the MPMP Summer Camp 2018. The winning of the Good Citizen Award by another mentee, Mr Liu Kin-leung, further affirmed the results of the MPMP. He showed alertness in assisting the Police to arrest a man for "Outraging Public Decency" in March, 2017.

Entering its eighth year, the MPMP aims to recruit mentees from 11 local tertiary institutions, the Hong Kong Sea School, the Maritime Services Training Institute, the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps, The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association and the Scout Association of Hong Kong. So far, the MPMP has enrolled 620 mentees, many of whom have joined the Force and subsequently work in Marine Region.
