More than 1 600 regular and auxiliary officers, civilian staff members and retired officers as well as over 70 runners from other disciplinary forces participated in the annual Dowman Road Race on February 9. Commissioner Lo Wai-chung supported the event and presented awards to the winners.


Three initiatives were introduced this year. They were self-registration via QR code, new categories of "175A Run" and "Tier One Challenge", and the opening of the family run to non-police family members. The participants welcomed the initiatives.


All athletes tried their utmost to achieve the best results. Police Constable Tsim Hoi-kin of Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQ) and Police Constable (Auxiliary) Lam Ka-yan of Shatin District were the fastest male and female runners respectively. Ng Yeuk-bing broke the record and captured the championship in the category of Retired Officer – Women. PTU HQ was once again crowned The Fastest Team in the Specialist/Training Units with a new record. Railway District emerged as the Fastest Team in Other Formations/Units whilst the Police College clinched the championship in women's team. The championship of the new categories "175A Run" and "Tier One Challenge" went to the Police College and PTU of New Territories North respectively.


Chairman of the Police Athletics Club Mr Mak Chin-ho thanked all volunteers from various units, including the Police Football Referees' Club, physical training instructors of the Police College, the Auxiliary Medical Service and the Hong Kong Adventure Corps, for making the event a success.
