The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island (RCPO HKI) held the Fourth Teens and Elderly Mission Committee Appointment Ceremony cum Project “CooLNet” and “Island Link” Kick-off Ceremony at the HKI Regional Headquarters on May 28. HKI Regional Commander Kwok Pak-chung appointed members of the fourth term of Teens and Elderly Mission Committee, including Chairman Mr So Kai-kwok and other Presidents. Dr Liu Kai-ming was also appointed as the Permanent Honorary President.

In order to disseminate crime prevention messages more effectively, artistes Maria Cordero, Mr Chan Pak-cheung and Ms Lai Sui-yan were appointed as the “Crime Prevention Ambassadors of HKI Region”. Meanwhile, Mr Yeung Ming and Ms Lisa Ch’ng were appointed as the “Island Link Ambassadors”. They will help spread crime prevention information for the RCPO HKI in the coming two years.

In addition, some entertainers and key opinion leaders (KOLs) were also invited to the ceremony to share crime prevention tips and offer words of encouragement to police officers. The entertainers and KOLs will assist the RCPO HKI in promoting crime prevention messages via their social media and online platforms.

With the staunch support of Teens and Elderly Mission Committee, Project “CooLNet” and “Island Link” were officially launched by the RCPO HKI at the ceremony. Since 2019, the RCPO HKI has been actively promoting Project “CooLNet” to spread the latest crime prevention messages to the public via various instant messaging mobile applications and social media platforms, with a view to extending the reach of such messages and fostering community participation in crime prevention. During recent social incidents, many shops have been vandalised. Project “Island Link” was therefore established to recruit shop owners or tenants in HKI region to set up a crime prevention network. It enables exchange of news and crime information in real time. Currently, more than 100 merchants have joined Project “Island Link” and obtained professional security advice from the RCPO HKI.
