Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) launched “Project PAL PAL” in February this year. The project aims to prepare the youth to become future leaders by developing their leadership skills through various kinds of training. Among the participants, ten members of Junior Police Call (JPC) are interested in joining the Force as inspectors, thus senior officers of KTDIST have provided them with useful information and advice. Moreover, Police Community Relations Officer Chung King-yip has been conducting training sessions on mock Extended Interview (EI) and Final Interview Board (FIB) twice or thrice a week so as to provide a platform for those JPC members undergoing the selection process to get a better understanding of the Force values, policing knowledge, practical interview skills and tips for passing the selection process.

KTDIST senior officers not only shared their valuable work experience and effective question answering techniques with participants, but also showed great care for us to help us reduce exam anxiety. The workshop was conducted in a pleasant atmosphere, during which participants encouraged each other to work hard. I will do my utmost to uphold law and order after completing the inspectorate foundation training.

The mock training sessions not only familiarised me with the content, procedures and settings of the real interview, but also enabled me to overcome my shortcomings by learning from others through exchange of views with senior officers and other participants in the mock exercises.

Apart from giving us a precious opportunity to better understand ourselves, the society and the role of the Force in society, the training sessions have helped enhance my logical thinking, improve my speaking skills and broaden my horizon. Senior officers have taught us the correct behaviour, attitude and values in a patient manner and all their advice is valuable and useful to us in life.
