Shatin Junior Police Call (Shatin JPC) launched Project “CampusClick 2.0” in early September for students to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) at home. In collaboration with “Hong Kong Father of STEM” Dr Jimmy Wong, the Director of Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association Science Innovation Centre, online teaching videos were produced to explain scientific principles in a simple way through demonstration of science experiments with readily available materials.


The six videos in the STEM series, namely “Helical Voicepipe”, “Balloon Rocket” and “Floating Ping-Pong” for lower primary students and “Instant Camera”, “DIY Ice-Cream” and “Anti-theft Alarm” for upper primary students, were introduced in September. After watching the videos, students who have completed a quiz may win prizes sponsored by Shatin JPC Honorary Presidents Council. Since the launch of the first episodes for the lower primary and upper primary levels, over 2 000 participants have completed the quiz, including primary students of the district and Shatin JPC members. Together with the first phase of Project "CampusClick" launched between March and May this year, over 10 000 participants took part in the quiz.


Police Community Relations Officer of Shatin District Ip Cheuk-yu believed that the two-pronged approach with online and offline means would be more effective to engage with the youth community, such as reaching out to the youth via online publicity by schools while planning tailor-made physical activities in response to the feedback from different groups.


In the fourth quarter of 2020, Shatin JPC plans to organise a drone taster course cum steeplechase for primary students and a sharing session for teaching staff with a view to enhancing communication and collaboration.
