On October 24, an elderly woman with heart disease and difficulty in mobility went to Cheung Sha Wan Police Station Report Room alone to report her missing Hong Kong identity card. During the reporting process, police officer Ah Don attended to her needs and cared for her. As Ah Don worried about the elderly woman’s difficulty in mobility, he gave her $100 cash to take a taxi so that she could arrive home safely. Another police officer Man-kit also helped escort her until she left the police station and warmly reminded her to go home safely.

The elderly woman was deeply touched by the acts of kindness of the police officers, and she shared the experience with volunteers who take care of her. She carefully kept the $100 note given by Ah Don in her wallet, as she would like to personally return it to Ah Don one day to thank him for his selflessness. Volunteers then shared this heart-warming incident on social media to help the elderly woman find the police officers for giving thanks. The post was later shared by netizens and the volunteers finally identified the officers involved.

On November 3, accompanied by the volunteers, the elderly woman went to Cheung Sha Wan Police Station Report Room to return the $100 note and thank all police officers, especially Ah Don and Man-kit. She expressed that police officers’ kindness and care greatly moved her. She was also warmed by the altruistic act of offering her the money and helping her until she left the police station.

Officers of report rooms handle different cases each day and they always attend to the needs of informants. Showing empathy, officers also provide professional assistance to all citizens to uphold the spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”.
