The Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) is currently working on a project to revitalise the Police Museum on The Peak, which will be closed for renovation from June 2021 and reopened in early March 2022. Through optimising its exhibition contents and concept, with additional interactive and information technology features, the HKPC aims to bring out the message of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty” and revitalise the museum into a centre of police history and culture.

With a view to ensuring a rewarding experience for all visitors to the museum, the HKPC has recently recruited nearly 70 volunteer docents, comprising both retired and serving Force members. These docents will facilitate fruitful tour of visitors, enhance their understanding of the artefacts and police history and act as a bridge for communication between the Force and the public.

On March 1 and 8, 2021, the HKPC organised a one-day training programme for the volunteer docents, during which Police Museum Advisor, retired Senior Superintendent Ho Ming-sun, was invited as a speaker to share the history of the Force as well as practical docent skills. On both days, Commissioner Tang Ping-keung met with the docents and expressed his heartfelt thanks for their support to the Police Museum and the Force.

As part of the revitalisation, the artefacts inside the Police Museum will be re-arranged to align with the new exhibition concept. All officers are welcome to preserve and inherit the history and culture of the Force by donating old articles, or any memorabilia or keepsakes, relating to police history in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, during the closure of the museum, some artefacts will be loaned to Regions and Districts for their hosting of roving exhibitions and open days.
