The Psychological Services Group (PSG) hosted a “Balances and Wisdom” seminar at the Police Headquarters on June 1, to promote the psychological wellness programme “HERO – Healthy and Resilient Officer” and help Force members to cope with the impact of social incidents on interpersonal relationships. Mr Francis Mak, a well-known DJ, was invited to share his views on reconnecting with significant others at the seminar. He also spoke on effective ways to enhance communication with children and youngsters for maintaining family cohesion. About 150 Force members and retired officers, as well as their family members and friends attended the seminar. Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Siu Chak-yee and Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Man-tak also joined the event.

Mr Mak shared his experiences of communicating with his children and youngsters, and explained how to communicate effectively to build close relationships. He emphasised that parents need to respect the views of their children, and to understand, accept and recognise their needs. He advised parents to stand by their children to help them overcome challenges. He also encouraged parents to strive to improve family relationships. The participants actively took part in the question and answer session and they found the seminar inspiring. The video of the seminar is available on the Force’s internal video sharing platform “P-TV”.

Force members are welcome to contact PSG at 2866-6206 for enquires or making an appointment when in need.
