The Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) and the Vocational Training Council (VTC) co-organised the 2020 Security Services Best Training Award Presentation Ceremony on September 24 at the Police Headquarters. The ceremony was officiated by Director of Operations Kwok Yam-yung, Chairperson of the VTC Security Services Training Board Mr Yip Chun-nam, Chairperson of the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (SGSIA) Ms Jane Curzon Lo, and Acting Assistant Executive Director of VTC Mr Tang Wai-yin. All Regional Commanders and representatives from the security industry were also invited to attend the ceremony.


During the ceremony, a total of 90 awards were presented to various security companies, including 62 gold Awards, 14 Silver Awards, six Bronze Awards and eight Merit Awards. The award panel comprising representatives from the Force, the VTC and the SGSIA assessed the commitments made by participating companies in training in the past year, the number of training hours provided, the number of staff trained, the range of training courses covered, and the level of management involvement and support for the training programme.


Speaking at the ceremony, Director of Operations commended the award-winning security companies for their active and continuous development on training programmes to enhance the professionalism of their employees. The Force will continue to work with the industry to proactively enhance the training of security personnel, so as to provide professional security services for the benefits of the general public. The security industry welcomed the support of the Force and VTC and expressed their commitment to improving the training standards of the security industry.
