The Exercise and Audit Division of the Major Incidents Bureau (MIB) ran the fourth Duty Controller Incident Command Workshop between October 28 and 29 at the Police Officers’ Club. The workshop aimed to reinforce the Regional Command and Control Centre Duty Controllers’ capabilities in situation appreciation, command and coordination in major incidents, such as terrorist incidents.

Delivering an opening speech at the workshop, Senior Superintendent of MIB Yip Pun-yu stressed that Duty Controllers should take all necessary steps to prepare themselves to promptly respond to major incidents, terrorist attacks or large-scale public events.

The workshop was attended by 21 officers from the rank of Inspector to Superintendent, who are serving or may act as Duty Controllers. During the workshop, the participants took part in sharing sessions, interactive discussions and scenario-based table-top exercises to enhance their confidence and capabilities in handling major incidents and terrorist attacks.

Upon the completion of the workshop, Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Chan Joon-sun presented certificates to the participants. He commented that the workshop had provided an excellent platform for the participants to hone their command and coordination skills, strengthen their knowledge of Force procedures and raise their awareness of situation appreciation.
