The Quick Reaction Force of New Territories North Region (QRF NTN), Key Points and Search (KPS) and Information Systems Wing (ISW), in conjunction with the Civil Aid Service, Fire Services Department, the Government Flying Service and several government departments and mountaineering organisations, staged the “25th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR cum Mountain Safety Promotion Day” at Tuen Mun Cultural Square on October 23 to promote public awareness of hiking safety and reduce accidents. Under Secretary for Security Mr Cheuk Hau-yip, Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Lui Kam-ho and representatives from other government departments officiated at the opening ceremony.

The participating departments and organisations featured a variety of exhibitions and activities, including the introduction of different mountaineering activities, equipment exhibitions, and rescue skills demonstrations. Officers from QRF NTN, KPS and ISW showcased mountaineering equipment, including 3R solution consisting of “R-Map”, “R-Cam” and “R-Watch”, as well as the “Police Small Unmanned Aircraft”. The theme of this year’s mountain safety talk was “BE SMART”, which helped citizens understand the importance of mountain safety and reminded them of the significant matters for mountaineering. Police Dog Unit also arranged police dog searching performance.

The event attracted thousands of attendees and enhanced public awareness of safety in mountaineering, as well as showcasing the Force’s competencies in search and rescue operations for mountaineers.
