The Road Safety Office (RSO) of Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) launched the Road Safety Project (‘耆 • 義 • 行計劃’ in Chinese) in October through a multi-agency and community-based approach to promote road safety together with different stakeholders. RSO T NTS has recruited 23 elderly volunteers to serve as “Road Safety Ambassadors” (RSAs) from six non-governmental and social welfare organisations. The officers would provide talks and training to the RSAs to deliver road safety messages by conducting activities to help them better understand their missions and areas of work.

On October 26, Regional Commander of NTS Mak Chin-ho led officers of RSO NTS, together with Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol, social workers in the region and the RSAs to visit over 40 single elderly households in Kwai Chung Estate to deliver road safety knowledge and distribute publicity materials and souvenirs to the elderly.

T NTS has organised a series of road safety publicity events for the Project, which included visits to centres for the elderly, talks and street publicity events, and will keep promoting road safety to the public with different organisations.
