Between May 14 and 16, Director of South Sea Bureau of China Coast Guard Mr Ding Wengang led a six-member delegation to visit Marine (MAR). The delegation visited MAR Regional Command and Control Centre, Marine Police Training School and various Divisions to have a deep understanding of the policing and training strategies employed by MAR. Regional Commander of MAR Ng Cheuk-hang conducted a high-level meeting with the delegation during which an agreement was signed between Guangdong Coast Guard (GDCG) and MAR. Both parties can now conduct regular communication, thematic meetings, intelligence and information exchanges as well as joint operations under a three-tier mechanism.

Following the restructuring of law enforcement departments in the Mainland, GDCG established a sub-bureau in 2019 which was responsible for law enforcement in the Mainland waters surrounding the periphery of HKSAR Boundary of Administration. Working under the Boundary Liaison Mechanism between the Force and the Mainland authority, MAR and GDCG have been combatting cross-border illegal activities together over the years. Taking the year 2023 as an example, GDCG collaborated with National Immigration Administration, Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, and the Force to effectively combat the influx of non-ethnic Chinese illegal immigrants entering Hong Kong through the sea route within a few months.
