The Graduation Ceremony for the fourth cohort of the Leadership Institute on Narcotics (L.I.O.N.) was held on February 5. Commissioner Chow Yat-ming officiated at the ceremony to commend the mentees for their outstanding performance in anti-drug promotion activities. Olympic gold medalist in épée fencing and Legislative Council member Kong Man-wai attended as a special guest, sharing her insights on coping with adversity and time management, and encouraging the participants to cultivate a positive mindset.
In addition to training courses covering anti-drug knowledge, leadership skills and project promotion, the programme featured an immersive simulation activity called “The Reflective Path”, enabling the mentees to experience the serious consequence of committing drug offences. The participants also visited high and new technology enterprises during a two-day exchange tour to the Mainland and engaged in an anti-drug debate competition with the Anti-drug Pioneers from Shenzhen.
Building on the knowledge gained from the training programme, the mentees subsequently organised a variety of innovative anti-drug activities in the 20 secondary schools where they came from. Furthermore, L.I.O.N. continued to hold the large-scale anti-drug carnival at the West Kowloon Cultural District for the fourth consecutive year, aiming to strengthen community awareness against drugs.
The mentees demonstrated remarkable creativity and practical skills, elevating anti-drug promotion work to a new level. The training programme for the fifth cohort commenced in January this year, and will incorporate training on generative artificial intelligence to encourage the participants to make the best use of technology in anti-drug publicity.
