The Junior Police Officer Development Programme (JDP), which has been comprehensively rejuvenated since last year, offers personalised development activities to junior police officers (JPOs) aspiring to advance to the Inspectorate. Over the past year, JDP organised over 200 activities with more than 1 500 participants in total. The new cycle of JDP has even attracted over 100 mentors and 250 mentees, setting a new record.
On January 21, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Dr Law Yuet-wing officiated at the Prize Presentation and Inauguration Ceremony in the capacity of Head Mentor, marking the commencement of the new cycle of activities. Over 200 mentors, mentees and representatives from various units attended the event. During the ceremony, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) presented the Outstanding Mentor Award and Outstanding Mentee Award to the top performers in the previous cycle. Of the nearly 200 mentees, 40 were promoted to Elite Mentees. In his speech, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) emphasised that JDP aims to unleash mentees’ potential, and the Personnel Wing will continue to fully support their development to enhance the overall quality of police officers. Among the Inspectors promoted internally last year, 30 per cent were JDP mentees, reflecting the effectiveness of the programme.
Award-winning mentor Senior Inspector Wong Yu-shing and mentee Police Constable Yu Yeung-chung shared their experience in the ceremony. Superintendent of the JPO Division Chan Wah-kong also shared his stories starting as a Police Constable.
