Kowloon East Region (KE), joining hands with the KE Road Safety Activities Committee and the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (KE), held the inaugural “AI Nova Hong Kong Road Safety Competition cum Carnival” on January 31. A total of 90 primary and secondary school teams with over 600 students participated in the competition.
The competition was the Force’s first-ever one for the education sector which combined artificial intelligence (AI) and road safety elements. Participating students were required to answer questions on road safety, and compile programs to control smart cars to perform different tasks in simulated road scenarios.
Regional Commander of KE Tse Tsui-yan indicated in her speech that students applied systematic analysis and demonstrated a spirit of striving for excellence during the competition, aligning closely with the policing philosophy of continuous innovation and effective use of technology to enhance efficiency. She also encouraged the students to become Road Safety Ambassadors to promote “Smart Mobility” and safety awareness to the community. Several thematic booths were also set up at the venue to introduce information on road safety,
anti-drugs, and national security.
