Staff Relations Hotline is Here for You
DO you know how to apply for
overseas education allowance for your children; what compensation you are entitled
to if you are injured while on duty; or how to calculate your pension? If you don't,
then the answers to these and many other questions are just a phone call away.
ˇ@The Police General Orders, Force Procedure Manual, and Headquarters
Orders are sources that contain much needed information. Alternatively, supervising
officers and District Staff Relations Officer can offer advice. But one of the most
direct and convenient channels for seeking help in overcoming the often confusing
labyrinth of rules, regulations and procedures is the Staff Relations Hotline provided
by the Staff Relations Group.
ˇ@During officer hours, members of the Staff Relations Group will endeavour
to answer your queries through the Hotline. Understandably, quick answers my not
always be available, especially for more complex or extensive issues. For these cases,
queries will be noted by staff members and referred to the responsible unit for clarification.
After office hours, messages can be left on the Staff Relations Hotline answering
machine, after which callers will be contacted as soon as the information sought is
available.
ˇ@Apart from answers on welfare matters and conditions of service, callers are also
encouraged to call the Hotline to share their opinions on ways of establishing good staff
relations and enhancing internal communications in the Force.
ˇ@All genuine calls, be they queries or opinions, will be respected and considered
thoroughly.
ˇ@By using the Hotline service in this way, callers' areas of concern may reflect
areas of concern of other colleagues - ultimately leading to improvements which can
then be made on a variety of issues.
ˇ@So do make the most out of this Hotline service. It's there for you.
ˇ@Staff Relations Group staff hope to be talking to you soon.
CORRECTION . . .
ˇ@RECENTLY members of the YAU TSIM MONG District Fight Crime Committee were given a series of briefings by officers of the Force's Narcotics Bureau at Police Headquarters, whom OFFBEAT inadvertently called the Yau Tsim District Fight Crime Committee.
