THEY may not have the flawless swing of Tiger Woods, but 55 members of the Force, both civilian and disciplined, have definitely improved the standard of their glof since attending a series of training courses organised by the Police Golf Society. The first group of 12 trainees recently completed their first round of golf at Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course and while their scores were not in the relam of Tiger,a munber of rising stars of the furture were identified.

¡@The training was devised in conjunction with the Force's Healthy Life Style Campaign and focused on providing affordable tuition to those members of the Force who may have previously been deterred from taking up golf because of the the prohibitive costs inivolved.

¡@Training took the form of a six-hour introductory course coverinig the basic skills of grip, alignment, stance, posture and swing which was spread over four Saturday afternoons at the Police Training School. This was followed by a two -day intermediate course coverinig more advanced techniques, rules and etiquette and culminated in a round of golf at the South Course of the Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course.

¡@The fees for the introductory and intermediate courses were $400and $1,000 respectively, including the cost of playing at Kau Sai Chau. One of the couse participants, Tony Carroll, SP KRCCC had nothing but praise of the coursed and commented that "both offered extremely good value for money as well as a good insight into the sport ." All participants are eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to test their skills at Kau Sai Chau.

¡@The Police Golf Society Intends to run another series of training courses starting in December. Anyone interested in attending should request an application form from Mark Foster, A/SP, ADV ASSPO before 1 November. Fax:27869130. Telephone:2746-3407.
