Over 600 officers from various PTU companies took part in PTU Sports Day '98 on 6 March, where ten new records were set. Hotel Company accrued the highest scores from all track events and was awarded the Commandant Trophy as Best All Round Company. PC Ching Ying-wai of Charlie Company, who won the 800M and 1500M races and placed 6th in the long jump, was awarded the title of Victor Ludorum. WPC Kwok Yee-man, also of Charlie Company, who won the 200M race, long jump and high jump, was awarded the title of Victrix Ludorum. |

Police walkers included CP, DCP MAN, officers from PHQ, Regions and various formations. The event, which took about two hours to complete around Central Park in Shatin and the Shing Mun River, was officiated by the Chief Executive. In the two previous walks the Force secured both the "Highest Fund Raising" and the "Highest Number of Participants" awards - and looks to do the same this time around. ![]() | The route of this year's Island Run was changed to avoid the rough section of last year's jaunt. The 14 kilometre men's and women's race was started by CSP A HKI Burbidge-king with 76 runners, who all finished the run in creditable times. The fastest, PC Ching Ying-wai of PTU C Company made it in a time of 48:50, while PSII Chan Sui-yi of CDIST was the swiftest lady at 59:02. Central District won the Major Unit competition and PTU C Company beat EU HKI by two points to win the Minor Unit trophy. |
SPORTING NOTES The annual Renegades' matches of the Police Hockey Club will be held on 1 May at the Hong Kong Football Club pitch from 2:15pm. All police hockey club members are urged to attend. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The location of the second (and final) even of the 1997/98 season on 27 Friday March 98 has been moved to Ngau Liu, near Tai Mo Shan (access via Route Twisk). Registration starts at 9:30 am. Event begins at 10:30am. This is a pairs scoring 1-hour event. Solo runners may take part on a "fun" basis. Entry details were circulated by PEN message in early March 1998.The event will be followed by the AGM of the Police Orienteering Club.
