Kowloon West Traffic games
to promote healthy lifestyles
KOWLOON West Traffic has launched a series of sports and recreational activities from this month, aimed at promoting a healthy living.

The first event, a football match held on May 12 at the Police Sports and Recreation Cub attracted about 100 members from KW Traffic, with the winners being Enforcement and Control Division.

Senior Superintendent KW Traffic Mark Buxton said the Force Healthy Lifestyle Project Fund has donated $4,000 to aid the KW Traffic Healthy Lifestyle Programme.

"The aim of of it is to enhance internal communication as well as promote healthy living among Force members in KW Traffic," Mr Buxton said.

"The different sports events held each month would cater to the different needs of our colleagues."

The events include a football match on May 12, a basketball match in June, a bowling competition in July, a table tennis competition in August, a volleyball match in September, a tennis match in October, a long run in November and a family fun day in December. Exact dates are to be confirmed.

Members of KW Traffic have been divided into two major teams, one made up of KW Traffic Headquarters and Accident Investigation Division, and the other Enforcement and Control Division.

They will compete in every competition and the scores will build up to the last event in December to decide which team is the overall champion.

Organising committee chairman of the Healthy Lifestyle Programme Officer in Charge/Accident Investigation Team Seven/Kowloon West Michael Li said the events have been carefully planned with regard to weather and human interest.

"We hope to find more potentially talented sports people in these events," Mr Li said.

"The Family Fun Day to be held in December is the closing event of the programme and colleagues from KW Traffic are encouraged to bring their families."
