Anti-crime fun wins over Wan Chai

A Saxon shows the only thing fake discs are good for - crushing!

The Wan Chai Police-Community Fight Crime Joint Operation took place May 27 drawing a throng of participants and onlookers.

The day saw lion dances and performances from the Police Pipe Band and the Cape Collinson Marching Band. Some 400 participants including Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee members and those from other local organisations took part in a parade from Moreton Terrace to Southorn Playground with two open-deck buses.

There, 26 teams including senior citizens, students, Junior Police Call and Road Safety Patrol members, and girl guides staged anti-crime performances, while a Force Saxon armoured vehicle crushed a pile of illicit VCDs.

The day was organised by the Committee and sponsored by the Wan Chai District Council to promote co-operation between police and residents and boost crime-prevention awareness.

Committee Chairman Dr Charles Koo and Wan Chai District Commander Lee Siu-kin were among the official guests.
