Sir Shiu Kin remembered

DCP MAN Tsang Yam-pui and DPT Leung Fung-shun, join Lady May and family to tribute Sir Shiu Kin

The annual Display of the Mace Ceremony in memory of the late Sir Shiu Kin Tang was held at the Police Training School Officers' Mess on June 5.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management) Tsang Yam-pui, Director of Personnel and Training Leung Fung-shun, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Training) Yip Kwok-keung, PTS Commandant Wong Pak-nin and about 80 officers attended.

In a speech, Mr Tsang said: "Sir Shiu Kin was a philanthropist and made remarkable contributions to Force members in the areas of welfare, education and recreation."

He said Sir Shiu Kin was a good friend of former DCP MAN Eric Blackburn who received the mace from his widow, Lady May, after he passed away.

The mace has since been carried by the Drum Major of the Police Band in all important ceremonial parades since 1987, and is displayed annually in memory of Sir Shiu Kin's generosity.

Lady May, son Richard and daughter Yvonne, also attended the ceremony. Those gathered held a minute's silence before the Police Band played and Lady May was presented with a bouquet.
