Force seared by sizzling South China

Never sidelined: ACP P Tang King-shing in action

Scorching temperatures couldn't compete with the blistering action on pitch as the Force took on South China in a friendly at the Hong Kong Stadium on June 3.

The match, opening for the headlining exhibition event between South China and Yugoslavia, saw a Police squad led by Assistant Commissioners of Police (Operations and Personnel respectively) Cheung Chi-shum and Tang King-shing battle the South China Committee team. In 33-degree heat the teams put on a competitive and exciting performance for the 10,000-strong crowd, the Force team finally succumbing to the Committee 2-0.

Meanwhile, Security Wing Team B took out the Police Headquarters Four-a-side Soccer Tournament final on May 31, beating 16 other teams from PHQ formations. The final was the culmination of 28 lunch time matches held since March. First, second and third runners-up were Criminal Records Office Team B, Narcotics Bureau Team A and Communications Branch respectively. Mr Tang presented the prizes.

Continuing the healthy-lifestyle drive, a three-a-side basketball competition for PHQ staff was set to run from June to August.
