Beijing drug conference

Narcotics Bureau officers joined about 260 delegates from 60 countries to participate in the ICPO-Interpol Fifth International Heroin Conference in Beijing July 18 to 21.

NB's Chief Superintendent Henrique Koo Sii-hong, Superintendent (Operations) Chan Wai-kong and Senior Inspector Li Chi-chung represented the Force at the four-day conference opened by Interpol Secretary-General Raymond Kendall.

Minister of Public Security Jia Chunwang delivered a welcome address reaffirming the Mainland's commitment to intercepting narcotics, and Assistant Minister of Public Security Zhu Entao chaired the conference.

The event addressed the latest trends in global heroin production and trafficking with a view to creating greater co-ordination in the regional and international drug control effort.

The Force delegates also took the opportunity to meet the Ministry's Drugs Control Bureau and its Director Yang Fengrui and Deputy Chen Cunyi to further operational links.
