Summer fight crime slam

"I pledge allegiance . . . ": Young fight crime ambassadors sign up in Metroplaza

Don't be greedy, and safeguard your property and personal safety. These are the themes of the latest fight crime activities from Kwai Tsing District and Lantau North Division which started recently.

KWT District's Help People to Help Themselves activity was held July 18 at Kwai Fong's Metroplaza, with KWT District Commander Lau Wai-ming and District Fight Crime Committee members officiating.

More than 70 fight crime ambassadors trained by KWT District received certificates of appointment and took an oath, before distributing anti-crime leaflets in Metroplaza and Maritime Square. They will visit shopping arcades and housing estates, and organise seminars to further disseminate the fight crime message during the summer.

Junior Police Call members also volunteered as fight crime ambassadors taking courses to familiarise themselves with certain crimes so they could help distribute warnings. Top performers would be awarded.

Meanwhile LTN Division and the New Territories South Regional Crime Prevention Office held activities in Fu Tung Shopping Centre, Tung Chung on July 11.

Designs from the NTS Fight Crime Poster Design Competition were displayed warning the public of street deceptions and summer job traps.

LTN Divisional Commander Wu Shu-wing and Islands District Fight Crime Committee members attended the event which attracted scores of local residents.

Fight crime notices were also erected in Fu Tung Estate lift lobbies and would be updated regularly.
