A letter was sent to an English-language newspaper on November 6 regarding its report on Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Chairman Li Ruihuan's visit to Government House the previous day. The letter pointed out that in fact demonstrators, and not police officers, had burnt a petition letter. A Chinese-language paper was sent a letter on November 7 refuting its report the previous day about growing thinner-inhaling activities among Tai Po teenagers. It stated that only two crime cases connected with thinner inhaling had been recorded in Tai Po so far this year. It added that there was no evidence of the situation deteriorating. November 10 saw another letter sent to a Chinese-language paper, refuting its report that Police conducted an anti-vice operation and made arrests at a Lei Tung Estate unit in Aberdeen. The letter said no such operation or arrests occurred. Responding to a November 14 Chinese-language paper's report on the smuggling of meat in Chung Ying Street, Sha Tau Kok, a PPRB letter refuted the report's allegations of insufficient Police presence in the street, and pointed out there were no holes found in a nearby wire fence like the report had claimed. |
