General Security of Premises and Personnel

Crime Matters

  • These guidelines are designed to give general advice on the protection of premises and personnel.

  • This booklet is divided into four parts:
PART ONE - SECURITY OF PREMISES
    PART TWO - PERSONAL SECURITY
PART THREE - BOMB THREATS AND SEARCHING
PART FOUR - BIOHAZARD THREATS VIA THE MAIL

  • Whilst much of the advice contained in this booklet has a wide application, no such publication can include information on how to deal with every possible contingency. The needs of the individual will vary widely according to the type of premises, the threat assessment and size of organisation concerned. Accordingly, please direct any questions you may have concerning security measures to the Crime Prevention Bureau, Hong Kong Police Headquarters, Hong Kong. They may be contacted on 2721 2486 (Tel.) and 2200 4368 (Fax.).

  • Security Officer
It is strongly recommended that, if you have not already done so, you appoint a suitably qualified Security Officer, whose sole, full-time responsibility is the co-ordination of all security measures, which will include maintaining a close liaison with the local police to ensure they are aware of any potential increase in the level of threat.
