The Fun Run

Last Sunday, my friends and I joined the ‘24th Anti-drug Shield’ Central Waterfront Fight Crime Run cum Carnival. We had a nice and rewarding experience.

Despite the not-so-good weather, the fiesta was energising and welcoming. Various races took place from 9:00am to noon. As early as 8:00am, athletes were stretching and jogging, preparing for the upcoming battle. On the contrary, some of the run-for-fun participants, including us, loitered around the pier and chatted away the minutes.

When it was our turn to run, “Honk”, we all took off with a burst of speed. Soon, the medal-wrestling athletes were well ahead of us, with their body movements blurred with speed. Those aiming to run all the way and those entirely for fun finished the race with relative leisure.

After a break, we visited some game stalls and snack bars. Long queues and joyous laughter were everywhere. Some participants stopped by the stage to watch karate performance. As for us, we were too busy enjoying ice-cream and snacks, as well as taking souvenirs!

Last but not least, it was the prize-giving ceremony. Two of our school’s cross-country team members won the 1st and the 4th place in our group. Three cheers for them!

All in all, the carnival gave me an incredibly good impression of the JPC, considering it was my first JPC activity. I hope I can join it again and I will recommend my friends to take part in other JPC activities with me!
