Works of art by police officers on display

THE Hong Kong Police Painting and Calligraphy Club held its 16th Anniversary exhibition between April 9 and 11 at City Hall.

The display featured over 200 exhibits under the healthy lifestyle theme with styles ranging from traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy to colourful portraits, landscapes and contemporary pieces.

Officiating at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Senior Auxiliary Commissioner of Police Dick Lee Ming-kwai said the club had grown in popularity over the past 16 years and had helped promote healthy living by encouraging more officers to paint during their leisure time.

Records SHATTERED
at Police Athletics Championships

SCORCHING conditions failed to melt the determination of competitors at the annual Police Athletics Championships with two top records smashed in style.

Deputy Commissions of Police (Management) Tsang Yam-pui was guest of honour at the event held on March 23 and 27, which saw two long distance track records broken at a new venue adjacent to the Police Training School in Aberdeen.

The ladies from the PTS team sprinted away with the women's 4 X 100 metre relay record with a sizzling time of 54.99 seconds.

Another record was toppled as Police Constable Ching Ying-wai took the men's 10,000 metre event, clocking in at 33 minutes 46 seconds.

Mr Tsang presented trophies to the sweat-soaked competitors in front of what organisers described as the best spectator turnout in two years.
