Director of Operations Tang Ping-keung officiated at the inauguration ceremony of Project Legacy, a secondary school engagement initiative, at JPC@Pat Heung on December 19. He appointed Kowloon West Regional Commander Cheuk Hau-yip as the Head Ambassador for the project, and 32 officers as Chief Ambassadors. They would lead their cadres of voluntary officers to engage their respective alma mater in an attempt to project a positive image of the Force. Some District Commanders also attended the ceremony to show their support.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tang said that Project Legacy aimed to make good use of the police alumni to engage their alma maters on matters of common interest that lies beyond the traditional police context. Not only does it focus on students, but it also covers principals, teachers, parents and other alumni. The common values of the police alumni and the 33 selected schools would be vital to initiate a common dialogue and facilitate long-term engagement.

With the assistance of the respective police districts, the Chief Ambassadors would build stronger ties with the schools and promote a positive image of the Force through interacting with the students in sports, music or arts activities.
