LANTAU RACE '97 NOW OPEN TO SERVING NTS REGIONAL OFFICERS ONLY

It is with regret that, due to the need to ensure the highest possible levels of safety for the competitors of the Lantau Race over what is a very arduous and difficult route and given the unexpectedly overwhelming number of entries for a course that was not designed or intended to accommodate so many competitors, the race will now ONLY BE OPEN TO SERVING NTS REGIONAL OFFICERS.
The decision to limit the race (WHICH RUNS ON THURSDAY 4 DECEMBER) to only NTS personnel was not taken lightly, but, in the light of safety and good organisation, it is considered expedient to run the first such event with greatly reduced numbers. Should the race prove to be successful on this trial run, it is hoped to once again open the event to all Force members next year.
Arrangements are now being made to return the full amount of the entry fee to all competitors, while team captains will receive letters from the race organisers explaining the reasons for the modified race arrangements.
The race organisers apologise for the change in the run's format and regret any arrangements and training that has been undertaken by officers who originally entered the event as well as for any inconvenience caused.
Team captains wishing to discuss the matter further are welcome to contact P R Morgan: 2640-5440.
