The Sports Exchange had special significance as it was the first to take place in Hong Kong after the handover. Unchanged, however, was the friendship and spirit of mutual understanding, trust and co-operation that continues to be achieved by these games-not to mention the competitive streak that they always bring out from competitors on both sides. This year's sporting events included: badminton, basketball, shooting, table tennis, tenpin bowling, a tug of war competition which was followed by some fun games. The competition ended in a tie with guests Guangdong defeating their Hong Kong rivals in table tennis, badminton and basketball. The hosts, on the other hand triumphed in shooting, tenpin bowling and tug of war. The battle continues next year in Guangdong. ![]() Photography: Yiu Chi-fai and Benny Ho |
