Senior Officers Promoted
CONGRATULATIONS go to Director of Crime and Security Lau Chun-sing, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Service Quality) H.M. Blud and Commandant of the Police Training School Wong Pak-nin who were presented with promotion letters by the Commissioner of Police on April 30.

Mr Lau and Mr Blud were promoted to the ranks of Senior Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner respectively on May 1 while Mr Wong rose to the rank of Chief Superintendent on May 3.

AWARDS FOR HKI OFFICERS
A presentation ceremony was held at Hong Kong Island Headquarters on April 15 during which Regional Commander of HKI Leung Chi-bun presented retirement souvenirs, Certificates of Merit, Certificates of Exemplary Service as well as Valedictory Letters to 20 police and civilian officers. During the occasion, both 20-year and 30-year Long and Meritorious Service Certificates were presented to 14 civilian officers while 22 police and civilian officers were presented with Commanding Officer's Commendations.

OFFICIATING at the passing-out parade at the Police Training School on April 24, Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting Kwong Ki-chi said the most advanced information technology was used by the Force in the discharge of constabulary duties. A total of 19 Probationary Inspectors and 198 Police Constables graduated on the day.

Restuarateurs gave special thanks to Wan Chai Police officers who nabbed a burglary syndicate targeting shops on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon during the small hours.

The proprietors of two victimised restaurants presented pennants to the then Acting District Commander of Wan Chai Peter Hunt and his team on March 31 to thank them for their swift detection of the burglaries at their shops on March 26.

The gang was known to be using hire cars to cruise streets looking for suitable locations to break into and having little regard for the lives of others when chased by Police.


Good Work Recognised

A car park company, two management companies and Sha Tin Provisional District Board members Mr Wai Kwok-hung and Mr Ho Hau-cheung presented pennants and souvenir plates to officers of Sha Tin District and Emergency Unit/New Territories South on March 26. It was an act of recognition of their professionalism in detecting a number of robberies and burglaries early this year in the district.
