Force organises 175th anniversary open days


The Hong Kong Police Force organised open days on two consecutive weekends at the Police College in celebration of its 175th anniversary. The open days were the first in a series of anniversary activities for the year that included open days at police buildings, the publication of a commemorative book, and the release of special stamps in celebration of the 175th anniversary.

Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port Police Base opens


The Hong Kong-Zhuhai- Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port Police Base was officially opened on January 17. Decorated in light grey and dark blue, the Police Base is connected directly with an about seven-storey high Incident Control Tower and is equipped with a multi-directional closed-circuit television and broadcasting system that enhances public safety and makes for good management of police resources on the bridge and at the port.

Force wins first Global Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise Award


The Force was recognised as the Most Outstanding Winner of the Global Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise (MIKE) Award. The Global MIKE Award represents the highest level of accolades in the field of knowledge management. Of the 16 organisations named as Winners in the competition, the Force was the only government department and the only law enforcement agency clinching the Most Outstanding Winner Award in the competition.

School of Foundation Training wins training award in United States


The Probationary Inspector Training Division of the School of Foundation Training was named one of the 2019 Training Top 125 Organisations by Training Magazine in the United States. This is the second consecutive year that the Police College has been honoured, with the Detective Training Centre winning the same award in 2018.

Inter-departmental Counter-terrorism Unit holds first counter-terrorism exercise


The Inter-departmental Counter-terrorism Unit coordinated its first large-scale inter-departmental counterterrorism exercise, codenamed POWERSKY, at Lei Yue Mun Park. The exercise simulated an operation against a terrorist cell plotting an attack in Hong Kong using homemade explosives.

Junior Police Call 45th Anniversary Open Day held successfully


The Police Public Relations Branch held the Junior Police Call 45th Anniversary Open Day at JPC@Pat Heung. The event was one of the highlights of the Hong Kong Police Force 175th Anniversary celebrations, attracting more than 4,000 visitors.

Launching ceremony of the 175th Anniversary Commemorative Book, Stamps and Television Movie


The Police Public Relations Branch and the Police College jointly held the launching ceremony of the 175th Anniversary Commemorative Book, Stamps and Television Movie at the Police Headquarters. A very large number of media representatives and guests attended the event. The book went on sale at major bookstores on May 1.

Force awarded Caring Organisation Logo once again


For the fifth straight year since 2015, the Force was awarded the 10 Years Plus Caring Organisation Logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. The award is in recognition of the Force’s corporate social responsibility practices in caring for the community, its employees and the environment.

Force steps up to end social unrest




The Force showed its unswerving determination to protect the peace and security of Hong Kong in the face of a string of large-scale protests stemming from the Fugitive Offenders and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2019. As these protests escalated into relentless violence that threatened people, property and the rule of law, the Force took resolute enforcement action to keep Hong Kong safe in the face of extreme challenges and provocations.

Police take resolute law enforcement action


The Force took resolute and effective law enforcement action against violent protesters who were illegally occupying the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Following violent incidents at the CUHK and PolyU, the Force arrested around 1,390 persons and seized about 8,000 unused petrol bombs.
