Auxy Sergeant injured foiling possible armed bank robber
CP Eddie Hui Ki-on recently paid a hospital visit to recovering Auxiliary Police Sergeant Chau Yuk-sheung who sustained injuries after grappling with a gunman on the staircase of a Tsuen Wan building.

The incident occurred after Sergeant Chau spotted the man acting suspiciously outside a Tsuen Wan bank on 18 August. When the suspect was challenged by the officer, the man pulled a gun on Sergeant Chau, who returned fire with a single shot. In the ensuing physical struggle the man got away, leaving the Sergeant with a fractured arm and emotionally shaken.

Heavily armed police were deployed to the area and cordoned off part of Castle Peak Road to search for the gunman who managed to flee the scene. A .38 calibre slug and a live .22 calibre bullet cartridge were found.

Both Commissioner of Police Hui, and District Commander of Tsuen Wan Ho Tse-tong, praised Sergeant Chau for foiling what in all probability would have been an attempt at armed robbery.
