Memorial
DEAR SIR,
Thank
you for your letter that appeared in issue No.637 of OFFBEAT.
There are two remembrance tablets situated in the foyer of May House. One honours
those police officers killed in the two World Wars. The second tablet honours those
police officers killed while on duty.
Furthermore, the Memorial Books placed underneath each of these tablets individually
honours both categories of officers.

Hole in one
DEAR SIR,
I would like to inform you of a recent game
of golf played in England by three ex and one serving officer during which a hole-in-one
was achieved.
The game was played by Iain Grant (ex-CSP NB) now living in England. Graham
Sutherland (ex-SSP OPS NT North) now living in New Zealand but on holiday in England,
John Black (SP Admin NT South) then on annual leave and the undersigned, now living
in England.
Played at the Worthing Golf Club, situated high on the South Downs in West Sussex,
on a day which saw a lot of wind and drizzle, John Black managed a hole-in-one on the
par 3, 185 yard 7th hole using a seven iron. An outstanding achievement given the
conditions.
This was to be John's third hole-in-one, incredibly the second while playing with me
but more amazingly, John was not only playing at my golf club but he was also using a
spare set of my clubs and a ball I gave him to use for the game.
John later did the honours in the club house and bought all present a drink or two. A
letter of congratulations signed by the Secretary of the Worthing Golf Club was presented
to John at the NTS Senior Officers' Mess the following week by myself and Iain Grant who
flew over to Hong Kong for the occasion and John was obliged to do the honour once again.
Should any member or ex-member of the Police Golfing Society be in the vicinity
of Worthing then I will be more than happy to play a round of golf with them. I can be
contacted through the address or phone number below.
Yours sincerely
Trevor Collins
