Helpful officers just like 'family'

(This letter was sent to CP Tsang Yam-pui)

I write overwhelmed with gratitude over the work done by the Police, and I wish to extend my appreciation to Detective Sergeant Chiu Kwok-ming, and Police Constables Mang Ho-kong and Chan Kwok-ngai of the New Territories South Regional Crime Unit Team Three B.

On my way back to Anhui Province from my trip to Australia, my flight had to be changed to stop in Hong Kong and I had a little time to stay. Owing to my poor knowledge of the laws here, I fell into a trap set by two swindlers on March 2, in which I was defrauded of A$10,000, HK$3,500 and some 1,400 yuan. It was every cent I had, and I had no friends or relations in Hong Kong. I was approached by some officers about five minutes later who explained what had happened and that the culprits had just been caught. I pointed out the two swindlers at the police station, and the three officers completed the investigation in less than two days.

They displayed a righteous yet friendly character throughout, and explained the laws to me. They bought me drinks and food at their own expense, and even gave me HK$100 and 200 yuan to pay the service charge for the flight to Nanjing. They gave me warmth and care like my own family would.

This has made me and my family look at Hong Kong from a new angle and we have utmost respect for the HK Police. They deserve to be named 'Class A Policemen'. Their kind assistance will be in my memory forever.
