Ground-breaking ceremony for new Kowloon East Regional Headquarters complex

Kowloon East Region held a ground-breaking ceremony for its new Regional Headquarters and Operational Base cum Ngau Tau Kok Divisional Police Station to mark the commencement of the $3.2 billion project. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019, and the complex is scheduled to open by early 2020.

Force exerts best efforts for 20th Anniversary of HKSAR

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan visited Hong Kong for three days, during which a number of large-scale celebration events were held. The Force deployed multiple units in an extensive counter terrorism security operation, doing its utmost to ensure that the President’s visit and related events were managed in a safe, secure and orderly manner.

Identification Bureau awarded ISO certification for fingerprint detection methods

The Advanced Technology Section of the Identification Bureau, the only forensic fingerprint laboratory in Hong Kong, was awarded ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certification by the Hong Kong Accreditation Service. The accreditation reflects its professionalism in the field of fingerprint examination and the credibility and reliability of its work.

Opening of Anti-Deception Coordination Centre

The Anti-Deception Coordination Centre, set up under the Commercial Crime Bureau, has begun operation. Its role is to co-ordinate police efforts to combat deception, and to raise public awareness of various types of scam.

In a milestone move, the Force upgraded the former Tseung Kwan O Division (under Kwun Tong District) to district status. It has become Tseung Kwan O District (under Kowloon East Region), with an establishment of 434 posts.

Commercial Crime Bureau celebrates 70th Anniversary

The Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) held a roving exhibition in celebration of its 70th anniversary. The exhibition covered some of the major changes faced by the CCB over the past seven decades, and presented a number of cases of serious commercial fraud and counterfeiting, with displays of never-before-exhibited artefacts such as counterfeit banknotes, prototypes of master dies, and counterfeit banknote printing machines.
