The Hand of Partnership

Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau (SZ PSB) Mr Su Zhenwei and 29 senior officers from the SZ PSB’s Criminal Investigation Division and Sub-divisions visited the Hong Kong Police Force in February. The delegates held several meetings with Crime Wing formations to discuss ways of combatting cross-boundary crimes, and visited several Police units.

Then Director of Personnel and Training Chiu Wai-yin led a Force delegation to the 11th Pearls in Policing Conference in Toronto, Canada in June. Through seminars, working groups and peer-to-peer discussion, the delegation exchanged insights with other police leaders and academics on challenges facing law enforcement agencies.

Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing led a delegation attending the 23rd Tripartite Heads of Criminal Investigation Department Meeting in Hong Kong in August, where delegates from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao discussed crime trends, policing work and exchange of intelligence in the fight against cross-boundary crime.

A delegation of Marine Region officers attended the Coast Guard Global Summit in Tokyo, Japan, in September. Delegations from 40 countries and areas took part in the summit, sharing ideas on ways to enhance maritime safety and security, protect the marine environment, and improve on-the-job training.

Commissioner Lo Wai-chung led a delegation to the 86th INTERPOL General Assembly in Beijing in September. Mr Lo also held short discussions with the President of INTERPOL and representatives of the French, German and Thai police authorities on ways of combatting transnational crime and terrorism, and on forging international collaboration.

The Police Minister of the Australian State of Victoria, Ms Lisa Neville, led a five-member delegation to the Hong Kong Police Force in November. Apart from visiting various Police units, Ms Neville sat down with Commissioner Lo Wai-chung to discuss policing issues such as crime trends in Hong Kong and Victoria, strategies for combatting cross-boundary crime, and bilateral training arrangements.
